The Veyangoda Flyover is scheduled to be vested in the public next month.
The Flyover which was a long felt need for the Veyangoda town will eliminated an eight hour delay caused to transport as a result of 96 train trips. Construction of the Flyover has been completed giving a solution to the congestion experienced in the town. The Ministry of Economic Development said that all arrangements are in place for the opening of the Flyover next month.
The Road Development Authority constructed the Flyover within a short period of 14 months with the mediation of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The Flyover has come up on the highway which is used to access Kandy as well as the Katunayake International Airport.
The length of the Flyover is 600 metres. There are two three and a half metre wide lanes. It also has two pavements which are one and a half metre wide. It is the first pedestrian lanes that have been built on a Flyover.
