It has not yet been possible to identify parts of skeletons of 38 persons even though nine years had passed since the tsunami battered the country. This comment has been made by Specialist Dr. U.L.P. Perera, head of the Judicial Faculty in Karapitiya.

The unidentified skeletons of 38 persons who died in the tsunami which struck the country nine years ago are still lying at the Judicial Faculty in Karapitiya. Parts of these skeletons were recovered during operations carried out in the Hikkaduwa, Pereliya, Telwatte and Kahawa areas in March 2005 with the mediation of Karpitiya Judicial Faculty.

Chief of this Judicial Faculty Specialist Dr. U.L.P. Perera said that these could be identified via the conduct of DNA tests. Parts of skeletons of each person have been placed in separate boxes. There are also some clothes, spectacles and identity cards.
