A special ceremony was held at the Central Bank premises this morning in memory of those who were killed in the terrorist suicide attack on the Bank.
The paying of floral tributes in memory of the victims was held at 10.34 this morning under the patronage of Central bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral. Expressing his views on the occasion, the Central Bank Chief said that those who can still remember this merciless assault which was unleashed 18 years ago cannot raise human rights queries.
Deputy Minister Faizer Mustapha, Parliamentarians A.H.M. Azwer and Duminda Silva and Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana were present at this ceremony. A sathyagraha was also staged opposite the Central Bank remembering the attack and emphasizing that it was the obligation of everyone to prevent a recurrence of such a devastation in the motherland.
