The savage killings explicitly displayed the atrocities committed by the terrorists. They did not consider the value of human lives.
Certain forces are at present determined to erase the terrorist activities carried out by the vicious terrorists who daily took an inestimable toll of lives transforming the country into a stream of blood. This feature gives an explicit picture of the brutalism unleashed by the terrorists in the dark era.
February 01st in the year 1992 was a day in which the barbaric tiger cadres unleashed an attack at Ichchalanpattu taking away the lives of seven war heroes and thus commenced their killing spree during the dark period on this particular day with the anticipation of meeting their cruel objectives. On February 01st 1998 the terrorists mooted heavy attacks at Elephant Pass and Paranthan areas. As a result of these severe attacks, 138 war heroes made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the unity and the territorial integrity of the motherland.
On the same day four brave soldiers also sacrificed their lives in another tiger terrorist attack launched in the Muhamalai area. Vishwamadu was the next target of these ruthless tiger terrorists on 01st February in the year 2009. The brave soldiers had to confront a heavy attack. The country was deprived of the valuable services of two war heroes in this cowardly assault. These savage terrorist cadres unleashed several attacks in the Udayar-kattukulam and Phthukudiyiruppu area also on the same day. 35 war heroes gave up their lives on behalf of the motherland.
Terrorism which was a scourge to the country in this manner had taken away 200 lives on 01st February throughout the dark era at the time the terrorists were pulverized on 18th May 2009. This included four civilians and 196 valiant soldiers. The war heroes who advanced without hesitation succeeded in emerging triumphant in the battle against terrorism due to the unwavering and bold decisions taken by President Rajapaksa as the Commander in Chief and under the aegis of Defence Secretry Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
It is pathetic to note that Human Rights outfits which talk highly on the protection of fundamental rights are reticent on the savage murders committed by the terrorists and the terrorist activities. Sri Lanka is in a position to divulge to the world with clear evidence on how the terrorists slaughtered innocent civilians who were under their grip for going against them. It was these civilians languishing under the jackboot of the terrorists and numbering over 300 thousand were liberated by the members of the Security Forces sans any bruises or injuries. They were not only liberated but the war heroes offered them food and drink and treated them humanely. They thus displayed their humanity towards these civilians not only by word but also by deed.
World powers such as Britain and the United States are demanding reports claiming that Sri Lanka has violated human rights. But the flagrant human rights violations committed by the countries have already been widely exposed by the international media. Isn’t it the terrorists activities carried out by the terrorists murdering many people and the flouting of human rights by them amount to violation of human rights? The manner in which the war heroes who liberated civilians making supreme sacrifices and providing them relief, is the best example to indicate as to who respected human rights.
The ruthlessness of terrorism is being referred to over and over again in this episode of the dark era. The war heroes who were caught up in this brutalism is being recounted in these features to the country and the world. Among these reminiscences there may be non-forgettable photographs of those who sacrificed their lives in the fear psychosis period.
