No one can forget the ruthless murders committed by the brutal tiger terrorists daily to quench their thirst for blood. These terrorists violated human rights flagrantly.
This feature clearly depicts the brutality unleashed by the terrorists on 13th February during the dark period.
It was on 13th February 1982 that the ruthless tiger terrorists killed a war hero in the Kurikaduwan area and embarked on their killing spree on 13th February throughout the dark era. On 13th February 1985, the terrorists unleashed several attacks with small weapons in the Kokilai and Mullaitivu area killing four war heroes. In the year 2001 also on 13th February, the tiger terrorists mooted an assault on a group of soldiers who were on foot patrol in the Manirasakulam area in Trincomalee. As a result the country was deprived of the valuable services of two war heroes.
On 13th February 2009, the brutal tiger terrorists launched several attacks in the Puthukudiyiruppu and Pillair Kuduirippu area killing four more war heroes.
The Commander in Chief with the support of the members of the Security Forces succeeded in annihilating terrorism and enthroning permanent peace in the country. That historic day was 18th May 2009. By then 25 persons had succumbed to terrorism on 13th February throughout the fear psychosis period. This included three innocent civilians. The other 22 were brave soldiers.
The members of the Security Forces who advanced in the operations due to the leadership given by President Rajapaksa succeeded in wiping out terrorism from the country at the Nanthikadal Lagoon.
But it is sad to note that certain local as well as foreign forces are initiating action to destroy the peace endowed to the nation by the war heroes making supreme sacrifices. However, the patriotic citizens of the country are totally aware of the cunning attitudes of these forces active to achieve their parochial aims.
Information on the large scale killings carried out by world powers such as the United States and Britain, flagrantly violating human rights has already been exposed to the world. But it is disdainful to note that outfits which highly talk about human rights are silent on the basic fundamental rights violations committed by these countries. Such acts are disdainful. Is there any moral right for Britain and the United States under such circumstances to seek reports from Sri Lanka on human rights? Isn’t it the liberation of over 300 thousand Tamil civilians languishing under the jackboot of the terrorists by the war heroes, without causing any bruises or injuries, the best human rights reports that can be provided to the world?
