French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie has set a new indoor world record of 6.16 metres in Donetsk, Ukraine. The 27-year-old won the Olympic title at the London Games and his first indoor world title the same year.
Lavillenie beat the previous indoor world record of 6.15 by one centimetre set by legendary Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka. Six-time outdoor world champion and 1998 Olympic gold medallist Bubka still holds the outdoor world record of 6.14 metres.
