Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has elaborated that the Government had the collective strength to successfully face whatever proposals were brought forward at the Geneva Human Rights sessions against Sri Lanka.
The Minister was addressing a news conference held at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Headquarters today.
The Government is clearly aware of the sensitivity of the issue. It has taken into account the fabricated propaganda carried out by the international forces and the support given to them by certain Sri Lankan forces. The Government is making preparations in various directions to respond to these allegations. The Minister said that they were working collectively to face these challenges with strength and courage. He emphasized that crimes committed by the United States and Britain in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan should be first probed.
The Minister added that The Government considers it improper to bring forward such a resolution with other motives, adhering to a double standard policy with the aim of destabilizing Sri Lanka.
