The initiative taken by the Government to stipulate a guaranteed price for local potatoes and seed potatoes has earned praise from potato cultivators.
The Government has drawn its dire attention to uplift potato cultivators by granting relief to them.
Accordingly the Government fixed a guaranteed price of 80 rupees for a kilogram of local potato and 160 rupees for a kilogram of seed potato.
Potato farmers of the Uva Province have expressed their gratitude to President Rajapakse for giving instruction to launch this programme for their betterment.
