Add comments

Terrorism was a curse for the motherland for 30 years. As a result the damage unleashed to the country and the killing carried out by the terrorists are inestimable.

The terrorists carried out the killings with the sole aim of quenching their thirst for blood. This feature relates to the brutal activities unleashed by the terrorists.

The tiger terrorists embarked on their killing spree on the 03rd of March during the dark period, taking away the lives of two war heroes in the Punkudutivu area in Jaffna on March 03rd 1986. On the same day three more war heroes were killed in a terrorist attack in the Nayanativu area. In 1992, also on a day like today, seven brave soldiers gave up their lives on behalf of the unity of the country. An assault mooted by the terrorists on a group of war heroes in the Janakapura area in Welioya.

The next target of the terrorists was a group of war heroes providing security to civilians in the Ampara area. Three war heroes lost their lives in this assault on 03rd March 1998. In the year 2001 on March 03rd, the terrorists crept into the Wahalkada colony bordering Horowpathana and Kebetigollewa. They brutally slaughtered and opened fire and killed five innocent unarmed civilians.

On 03rd January 2009, the terrorists mooted several attacks in the Puthukudiyiruppu, Iyathkandal and Puthukudiyiruppu West areas. As a result the number of war heroes killed was 24.

Terrorism which scourged the country in this manner was finally ended by the war heroes on 18th May 2009 from the Nanthikadal Lagoon. By then these barbaric terrorists had taken away 46 lives on 03rd March during the fear psychosis period. This included five civilians. The other 41 were gallant soldiers.

The members of the Security Forces who advanced in the operations with the sole intention of uprooting terrorism from the motherland achieved the target due to the bold and direct decisions taken by President Rajapaksa undeterred by the influences which came from the international community. This achievement had really hurt certain local as well as extraneous forces as it obstructed their desires of achieving parochial aims.

The war heroes protected and safeguarded the lives of innocent civilians adhering 100 percent to the Geneva Conventions. The valiant soldiers liberated more than 300 thousand innocent Tamil civilians from the clutches of the terrorists providing a new lesson to the entire world.

It is explicitly clear that the United States and Britain are making human rights accusations against such a group of war heroes not because they cannot recognize the nature of protecting human rights but because of their deceitfulness. As such these so called forces should understand that they will not succeed in causing any harm to the motherland, the state leader or the war heroes.
