Civilians in Kalmunai take to streets to protest the Resolutions presented against Sri Lanka at the Geneva Human Rights Council sessions.
These civilians staged a peaceful demonstration from the Wesley College Grounds in Kalmanuai saying that the support of the Tamil civilians is always with President Rajapaksa who is developing the country sans any communal differences after enthroning peace ending a three decade long conflict.
The demonstration was joined by more than 1000 Tamil civilians. They vehemently denounced the so called terrorist activities unleashed by the UN Human Rights Council to deprive the rights of the civilians of the island nation claiming that their fundamental rights were infringed.
President of the Kalmunai Tamil Lions Club Selvanayagam said that the Tamil civilians of the area are supporting the President irrespective of the political, caste and religious differences.
In the meantime, a group of representatives of the Eastern Province Tamil Civil Society Federation handed over a memorandum to the United Nations Office today.
The representatives of this Tamil Civil Society Federation protested against the initiatives taken by certain Western countries impeding the peaceful environment which has been created in the country resulting in all communities living in unity. They arrived at the UN Office in a peaceful walk and handed over a memorandum protesting against these conspiracies.
