600 eateries which provide food for the pilgrims who arrive for Wesak and Poson
festivals in Anuradhapura, will be standardized. More than 5000 pilgrims arrive daily in Anuradhapura for Wesak poya. A special programme has been implemented to maintain proper hygienic standards of restaurants and other places which provide food for the people during this period. The Anuradhapura Municipal Council will categorize the eateries and issue certificates to the best places. The first phase of the programme took place yesterday with the participation of Mayor H.G. Somadasa.
