A hardcore LTTE cadre who is reported to have been tortured and killed

by the Security Forces in 2009 is still reported to be living. The world had directed accusations against Sri Lanka claiming that he had been tortured and killed.

The Indian Coast Guard has arrested him and his family members.

The Hindu newspaper reported that a group including this 33-year-old LTTE cadre K. Thyagaraja, a Computer Engineer, his wife and two children had illegally landed in the Arichamunai area in Dhanushkodi. However, they were apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard under the Indian Foreigner’s Act as they did not have the legal documents to enter the country.

The Hindu reported that University Teachers for Human Rights, certain Non-Governmental Organizations, the Australian Government Inquiry Tribunal on Human Rights and several LTTE loyalist groups had levelled accusations against the Sri Lanka Government that the Security Forces had arrested, tortured and killed him. A report titled “War sans evidence” had published that this 33 year old Engineer who was serving in a Charity Organization had been abducted by unidentified persons in Colombo and killed. However, the Hindu newspaper had reported at length on the fraudulent activities of this LTTE cadre and his wife. But the Indian newspaper had made no mention about his escape to Tamil Nadu.
