The digital version of the 550 Jathaka Story Book introduced

The president has presided over the ceremony to introduce the digital version


of the 550 Jathaka Story Book, “Wishvabala Chaithya”. The ceremony was held at the Maligakanda Maha Pirivena under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday. The Ministry of Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs has organized the event to inculcate Buddhist values in the society and to develop social and spiritual values in the country. It has been implemented according to a concept of President’s Buddhist affairs advisor Venerable Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera. The Ministries of Economic Development, Law and Order, Public Administration and Home Affairs and Police Department have assisted in this regard. The 550 Jathaka Story Book has been installed digitally inside a replica of a Chaithya, so that it could be listened by devotees. It has been created by Mr. Neslie Ranjith Rajasekera. The President presented it to the Chief Incumbent of Maligakanda Vidyodaya Pirivena Venerable Bangoda Sobhita Thera and Mahanayaka of Amarapura Chapter Most Venerable Dauldena Gnanissara Thera. It has been planned to introduce this Chaithya to 550 selected temples at the same time. The Maha Sangha including Venerable Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera and Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Deputy Minister Faizer Musthafa, Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala and a large gathering were present on the occasion.
