The External Affairs Minister has elaborated to the foreign representatives that the Government is taking concrete measures to halt hostile activities of extremist groups and safeguard peace and harmony.
Prof. G.L. Peiris met a group of Ambassadors and High Commissioners at the External Affairs Ministry this morning to discuss the present situation in Sri Lanka. The Minister elaborated to the diplomatic corps the situation which erupted in several areas recently.
A sinister campaign is in place to denigrate the Government. He told them that the President had issued instructions to the Security Sectors to take all possible measures to maintain peace and religious coexistence.
The External Affairs Minister emphasized that the Government’s target was to solve problems within the country sans any foreign interference.
