Vasantham TV, the sister channel of Independent Television Network
commemorates its Fifth Anniversary. Many programmes have been launched to mark the event.
Vasantham TV, as a sister Channel of ITN embarked on its journey on 25th June 2009 to entertain the Tamil speaking fraternity within the Northern and Eastern Provinces, mainly after they were battered in the face of brutal activities of the LTTE terrorists.
Another objective of this Channel was to meet the Television media needs of the Tamil speaking community in other parts of the country. Vasantham TV during the last five years succeeded in attracting a large number of viewers to link particularly the polity of the North and the South who were deserted as a result of terrorism with the world. Accordingly, Vasantham TV succeeded in taking the lead among all other Tamil media TV Channels within this short period. It did not limit itself purely to providing entertainment to the viewers, but also had a variety of programmes dealing with culture, religion and education. Also within this short period it had succeeded in being feted with a number of Awards.
A special Pooja was held at the Vishnu Kovil in Mutwal to mark the Fifth Anniversary of Vasantham TV. Independent Television Network Chairman Rosmand Senaratne, Board of Directors member J. Devapiran, General Manager Aruna Wijesinghe and Deputy Directors General as well as the members of the Staff joined in this Pooja. More special programmes were organized to mark the Vasantham TV Anniversary.
