Document of 111 signatures against Bribery Commission became 116 ...
because Sanath Jayasuriya's figures went wrong
Though a document comprising 116 signatures was supposed to have been handed over displaying a protest against the chief of the Bribery Commission by the group of MPs who engaged in a strike some days ago in parliament, actually it had comprised only 111 signatures. It had totalled 116 as a result of parliament MP Sanath Jayasuriya inserting the wrong figure by mistake. After the number 83, (thinking that it was 88), MP Sanath Jayasuriya had signed after placing the figure 89.
A copy of a document pertaining to this mix up is circulating these days across the social media and that note is seen below. As such, after figure 83 has been signed by Nirmala Kotelawala, Sanath Jayasuriya has written number 89 and after Sanath, number 90 has been signed by Sarana Gunawardena and 91 by Thilanga Sumathipala and so on down the line, continuing with the rest of the figures.
