Those who defend the corrupt politicians are those who benefit from them
The Minister of Peace and law and order John
Amaratunga has quipped that those who make a shout when the corrupt politicians are brought to book are those who have got favours from them.He had mentioned that when Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka was imprisoned there were no protests may be as because they would not have known about the news.
He drew attention to the incident of shouting when Basil Rajapaksa was given ordered to be arrested. This he attributed to the fact that they have been bribed.
He further had emphasised that under good governance the culprits will not be punished. However when punishments are given they protest in this manner.
The Minister also had quipped that former General Sarath Fonseka was the army commander who marshalled the troupes to win the war. When he was produced before courts and imprisoned where were these people?
