Susil, Anura not in Maithri's Committee
Mahinda appears to come separately!
It is reported that a separate list of nominees is
being prepared from former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa's side to be forwarded for the forthcoming General Elections. As such, there had been lengthy discussions held at the house during the past few days at Edirisingha Road, Mirihana where Mahinda stays and under his leadership. Preparations are underway to prepare the nomination list for his faction. It is learned that those who have extended support for the campaign to make Mahinda Rajapaksa the nominee for the Prime Minister for his Alliance too is to be included in the nominee list.Whatever it is, adding Susil Premajayanth the General Secretary (who is currently overseas) to Mahinda's group the UPFA, is still in suspense.
In the process, a committee has been prepared on the Parties to be added from the Alliance for the General Elections under the leadership of the Chairman of the SLFP, President Maithripala Sirisena. It is of special interest to note that the names of Susil or Anura Priyadarshana has not been added to it. Among those included in it are S.B, Lakshman Yapa, Thilanga Sumathipala, Rajitha, Mahinda Samarasingha and Mahinda Amaraweera. Accordingly, a discussion has been arranged this afternoon (29) with minority Parties and Leftist Parties with the intention of soliciting support for the United People's Freedom Alliance at the next General Election. Representatives other Leftist Parties not affiliated to the UPFA are also expected to participate at this discussion which would be held at the Presidential Secretariat. According to the present condition, Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to contest from a separate Alliance other than the United People's Freedom Alliance, political sources report.
