For the Bellanwila walking tracks opening ceremony Bathiya pockets Rs 276 lakhs.
During the tenure of the secretary to defence and the Urban development authority and the with the participation of the Sri Lanka Reclamation board the walking tracks and the food outlet was opened.This exercise of the
opening ceremony had been entrusted to a Company owned by the famous singer Bathiya Jayakody.In this regard state money amounting to rupees 276 lakhs had been paid to the duo's private company.The opening ceremony had been on the September 9th year 2014 from 5.30 in the evening to 7.50 pm.For this opening ceremony on this day which had not lasted for more than 2 1/2 hours duration a payment of Rs 276 lakhs had been paid to M/s Foretime Entertainment (private) Ltd owned by Bathiya Jayakody.
On investigating into this huge payment made for a short ceremony attended by high governmental officials,Bathiya Jayakody had flouted the basic regulations as the consent of the directors of this Company had not been obtained for this transaction.
These walking tracks had been constructed as the Bellanwila phase of the "Weressagaha " project.In addition to this huge payment another payment of rupees one million thirty eight lakhs and forty five thousand had been paid for a dance item and a further sum of rupees one million eleven lakhs had been paid and as an expense for another item a sum of eight lakhs thirty one thousand had been paid has been revealed.
It had also revealed that for another item a sum of over rupees eight lakhs had been paid and in all a sum of rupees two million seventy six lakhs had been paid for the opening ceremony.
