A report has been published to the effect that Ports Minister Arjuna's 80 year old mother has been conferred a consultant post at the Sri Lanka Ports

Prior to this, the incident where the position of Chairmanship was conferred on a brother of his family came into severe criticism. When things were such, trying to care for his aged mother in this manner is somewhat of a humorous situation. Arjuna Ranatunga's mother had been a teacher at Colombo Ananda College and is someone who has retired from service some decades ago.

However a post has not been given to her at the Ports Authority or the Ministry of Navy that Ministry concerned has said by now. The Ministry concerned cautions those concerned not to be duped by propaganda circulated by certain organised groups that the Minister has conferred a post at the Ports Ministry to his mother. It is stated that news of Minister Arjuna's mother being given the position of Advisor at the Sri Lanka Ports Authority was initiated by the United Trade Union of the port itself and that this utter false news was mentioned in a handbill circulated by them. Based on that leaflet certain websites have reported this. That media division reports that propagating lies by insulting a mother in this way is simply a silly act.
