When those who came there had offered their aid in whatever way possible, a certain grandmother and grandfather couple even without a proper dress on their bodies had come to that office bringing two parcels with them. What was in those parcels were two brand new sarongs and three chintz cloth. The grandfather and grandmother who explained the way they came into possession of those items have said that they received them for the New Year.

"We got these for the New Year ... but we didn't wear them. Give these to those helpless people". Having heard of what they said, feelings of those in the office had found their hearts melting away concerning this elderly couple whose hearts had such a sense of compassion for the needy. They accepted those items with great gratitude and had added those to their collection programme, Udara Guruge of that office told us. That grandfather was one W. Salgado, a resident of Kahatagahahena, Walgama, Bandaragama.
