Most personnel who were in the Army Arms depot in Kosgama Salawa camp at the time of explosion had escaped injury
It is learnt that there are two main Arms depots that belong to the Sri Lanka Army. One of them is located within the Kosgama Salawa army camp it is reported.
It is also reported that the arms depot had lodged the arms on the surface and beneath in two storage
units. These arms and ammunition are under the purview of the Sri Lanka Army electronic and machinery regiment.It is also reported that from T 56 , RPG to Multi barrel heavy ammunition are stored in this arms depot.
The news that have reached that the fire had commenced from the unit where small ammunition were stored and then it had spread to the unit where heavier ammunition were stored. When the blast had occurred the soldiers and officers had fled the area without carrying any injuries. It is learnt that when a fire breaks out there is no possibility that it could be turned off from water that is poured from above and it has to be watched until the fire gets extinguished.
However a body of a dead soldier had been taken to the Homagama hospital.But other than that no other soldiers and officers have been reported as injured.
