Doctors who treated Sobitha thera have been questioned to probe the complaint made by Uduwe thera
The specialist medical committee was appointed to probe as to why a post-mortem was not carried out after the demise of the Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha thera.
This specialist medical committee was issued with instructions from the Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapititya to obtain statements from all doctors who had treated Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha thera when he was sick.In this connection to obtain statements a letter has been sent to the Director of the Colombo National hospital Dr Anil Jasinghe by
the Chief Magistrate.The death of Venerable Maduwawe Sobitha was suspicions were the view of Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka thera. Hence he had filed a petition to the criminal investigation unit to conduct an investigation as a post-mortem was not conducted after his death. The officials of the criminal investigation unit had referred his petition to the Chief magistrate courts for advice.
In this regard the Chief Magistrate had ordered the Director of the National hospital Colombo to obtain the required information.
