Controversy that a child in Paada Yathra was directed to say: "Aappaya apita epa!" (video)

The movement for the Protection of Civil Rights has made a complaint last evening to enquire into the incident where a child was utilised to behave in a derogatory manner against the President Mr. Maithripala Sirisena at the Paada Yathra of the United Opposition which ended day-before-yesterday at Colombo Lipton Roundabout.

Since insulting another person is considered a serious offence under Child Abuse, the complaint has requested that a
comprehensive enquiry be carried out in this respect and those responsible be punished. At the moment the child uttered the offensive remarks both an MP and the child's parents had been present there. The child has said certain remarks on instructions of his father. Whatever it is, when the media questioned MP Wimal Weeravansha and others about it Wimal had quipped, "the child should have freedom to express his feelings". He had also said that he does not know who 'aappaya' is.

A video showing this child on top of MP Namal Rajapaksa's shoulders when the Walk was in progress saying "rajathumata jayawewa!" has been added to the internet. Shown below is how the child said 'aappaya' and travelling on Namal's shoulders as well.
