Lion Brewery Company raises head consequent to flood lashing with tax concessions
Sri Lanka's popular brewery Company factory located in Biyagama was terribly handicapped when the floods from the Kelani river in May this year damaged the factory premises which caused a fall in the manufacturing process.As a result of the floods a number of machinery had been
extensively damaged .The Company pays taxes to the tune of rupees billion twenty five yearly. Hence in order to raise their head the Treasury had given a three month tax holiday which is a worthy helping hand it is reported.However the inland taxes for the all other beer manufacturing companies remains unchanged.
In this regard the Treasury has allowed them to be exempted from import taxes and corporate taxes.
