Prasanna Vithanage's attempt to reveal a sexual abuse of a Magistrate to the public has his film 'Silent in Court' banned
The feature film "Usaviya Nihadai" directed by the renowned director Prasanna Vithanage which was to be screened from the 06th instant has been restrained by a court order considering a complaint made.The Colombo district Judge MU Gunawardena after examining the contents of the complaint
through a restraining order has prevented the screening of the film until the 19th instantThe plaintiff has been former Magistrate Lenin Ratnayake. He had added that the film has been based on a fake incident involving him.
He had quipped that if the film is screened it would cause a huge humiliation to him as well as to the entire judiciary.Hence he had requested to issue an restraining order to avoid such humiliation.
Hence in that context the Colombo District Magistrate has ordered not to screen the film until the 19th instant.
