The Supreme Court has decided that the VAT (Amendment) Bill does not violate the Constitution. The determination which was handed over to the Speaker was announced in Parliament today by Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala. Accordingly the Supreme Court has ruled that the VAT (Amendment) Bill is in accordance with the Constitution and is not illegal.
