From various comments that ran across the social media and a statement made by MP Wimal Weeravansha in relation to the commotion that took place at Clique Night Club down Union Place, Colombo day before night directly referred to the President's son Daham being involved in the incident. When the incident was
brought to the notice of President Maithripala who was in Thailand at the time promptly ordered the police to look into the matter and by this time a special inquiry is underway.

Whatever it is, some reports assume that this incident is being publicised and it has been created with a political motive behind it and a CCTV video purported to be connected to the said incident has been released by a particular website. It is clear according to the comment or note on its left side that the video concerned clearly displays a commotion which actually took place 6 years ago in the year 2010.

In the meantime the Manager in charge of the night club Christer Fakan had made a statement regarding the fracas saying that though it is true that some group had come in the early hours of the morning and created a scene by causing damages, there is however no connection of a son of the elite class involved in the incident. He has further mentioned that police have been handed over investigations in the case and that there had been 3 injured in the incident. The Manager's statement could be seen from the video below
