The Sinhalese have misunderstood what I have said no -- C.V. Wigneshwaran

North Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneshwaran who was subjected to criticism for having launched a campaign of protest under the name Eluga Thamil in Jaffna recently and thus expressed ideas of an ethnic nature has subsequently sabotaged the national inaugural sports festival held at Doraiappa Playground in Jaffna
after such a response. Whatever it is, he was present at its finale yesterday which the President too attended. He made things clear once again on that occasion on matters that he spoke about previously.

This is what he said: "A certain thing which I spoke about in Tamil has been misunderstood by the Sinhalese public in the South. Criticism has been aimed against matters I hadn't spoken about. If a Hindu kovil, a Buddhist vihara, a Catholic church or Muslim church is to be built, such an erection should be carried out after making a request from the provincial council of the area.

Other than that, creating places of worship in private lands of people with the aid of the army in a forceful manner is an act carried out by compulsion. What I said was that our people are questioning as to with what hope in mind such a thing is done. I don't see that there's anything wrong in that. Therefore I ask that my speech be properly read and understood and then to go ahead with criticism".
