Mentally deranged patient stabs Psychiatrist during channelling session!

Mentally deranged patient stabs Psychiatrist during channelling session!

A commotion flared up because of an incident where a certain patient had attempted to flee after stabbing during the process when a consultation channelling service was in progress at Colombo Nawaloka Hospital yesterday.

Activities of the hospital had commenced last evening (30) around 4 at the hospital as usual and the
name of the referred to patient too was in the list of patients who were to consult the doctor concerned. In this manner when the said patient's name was called and was permitted to gain access to the room, what he had done was keep continuously stabbing the doctor with a knife he had been hiding in his person with the motive of ending the doctor's life.

Since the doctor was someone who engaged in psychological counselling, he had carried out treatment to his patients by staying alone in the room. Therefore, there was incidentally nobody who was to witness or prevent what this patient was upto. The doctor who sustained about 10 stab injuries of a serious nature had let out a shriek at which moment nurses of the hospital and other patients had arrived on the scene having heard his shrill at which moment the assailant had tried to beat a retreat. Subsequently security guards of the hospital had apprehended him by surrounding him and handed him over to the police.

Psychiatrist Mr. Roshan Mahendra Mendis (41) who received fatal injuries in this connection was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the same hospital and the person who was responsible for this attack was a 31 year old youth living in Ratthanapitiya area in Boralesgomuwa and he had on a previous occasion too undergone mental treatment from this doctor, it is reported. He had alleged that when undergoing treatment on a previous date by this doctor the latter had harassed him; so saying a few days prior to this too he had ambushed the doctor in this very same manner and had tried to attack him at a time when the doctor happened to be walking along the corridor. Though security guards had tried to overpower him and hand him over to the police, the doctor who took compassion on him taking into consideration the mental condition of the patient has instructed that the issue be cut short without dragging it any further. In this particular incident of course he had carried out the stabbing attack by coming inside the room just a few days after securing the permission he had so got.

The suspect was ultimately taken into custody by Slave Island Police together with the knife used on the occasion. According to hospital sources, the doctor who was seriously injured was subjected to a surgery last night itself as the doctor has been stabbed in his neck region.

Will the Sri Lanka-South Africa Teat be a win or draw? depends on the performance of the Sri Lanka's remaining batsmen

Will the Sri Lanka - South Africa Teat be a win or draw? depends on the performance of the Sri Lanka's remaining batsmen

In the first Test between the touring Sri Lanka team and the host South Africa team played in Port Elizabeth, the hosts South Africa after winning the toss  batted and were all out for 286 runs on the second morning. Sri Lanka in return scored only 205 runs.South Africa in the second innings declared at 406 runs for the loss of 6 wickets
giving an impossible task of 488 runs to win on the fourth day with ample time. But Sri Lanka at the end of day four Sri Lanka were 240 runs for the loss of five wickets.

The two openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Kausal Silva defied the three throng pace attack of Abbott, Philander and Rabada resolutely for over 37 overs before Dimuth Karunaratne was unfortunately run out when the total was 87..Both were unfortunate to miss out on half centuries. Kusal Mendis scored a aggressive half a century and Skipper Angelow Mathews was unbeaten on 58 while Dhanajaya de Silva was unbeaten on 09 at close of play. Sri Lanka to win need another 240 odd runs with five wickets in hand.

Widow falls madly in love with FB boy and comes to his home with all belongings

Widow falls madly in love with FB boy and comes to his home with all belongings

A widow had struck up a friendship across the Facebook with an underaged boy employed overseas and later had exceeded the bonds of friendship. The boy had returned to Sri Lanka after his stint abroad while the woman referred to had come in search of him with the boy being unaware of her action, it is reported. The widow who so made access to his home found that at that moment he was not in and being thus disappointed had
attempted suicide, it was said.

The widow concerned was a resident of Trincomalee and she has come across this youth who was a resident of Matale. When matters were such, he had as if for fun suggested the idea of living together because the youth had thought of maintaining an intimate alliance with this woman who is supposed to have been living a solitary existence after the death of her husband. The widow of course had immediately welcomed his advances and during the course of this relationship he had made an indecent proposal by exchanging a photo of his, displaying his nude body. Subsequently, the widow who developed a desire to unite with this youth had ultimately managed to find out as to where he was, as if by mental confusion. However, the boy had never dreamed that she would come in search of him.

In the meantime the widow had packed up her goods and chattels in a travelling bag and had proceeded to visit the boy one afternoon during last week, arriving at his home in Matale with the purpose of lodging there. The household members were taken aback with this incident of an unknown woman mentioning the youth's name and the moment they had told her that he had gone for classes they were unable to figure out why the woman had behaved in a confounded manner. The widow had then begun to utter "aiyo, isn't he there .. did he lie to me?" in a nonsensical mood and had then left the house towards the road. In a short while the members of his home came to understand that the woman had tried to jump at a moving vehicle on the road. The woman had attempted suicide having been subjected to mental pressure, with her hopes being shattered.

This widow who abandoned her home and lodgings and came in search of this boy to Matale was taken into custody by the police for the offence of trying to commit suicide. The additional District Judge/Magistrate Mr. S.B.H.M. Sesiri Herath ordered that she be remanded until the 4th of next month and called for a medical report from a psychiatrist. What she who had become a widow said was that she had come to know this youth across the Facebook when he was overseas. Also that as time passed by, the attachment had gone too far and because the youth had displayed his person and proposed to unite as soon as he returns to the island, she admitted that as a result she had packed up her belongings and come to Matale in quest of him.

When conducting further investigations on the widow's restless behaviour, the youth in question too was brought and an inquiry was conducted on which occasion the boy had denied that he had invited her home. He had also added that she is someone who is suffering from a mental state. Investigations are proceeding in this connection.

"The President, Prime Minister and the members of the Tamil National Alliance have formed a
Yahapalanaya government. One clear intention of this government is to raise the lives of those living in the east and north. However after voting towards this it is not happening. What Mahinda Rajapaksa did everyone knows. The honest Grama Niladhari officers in the north have been sacked saying they are supporters of the TNA .If a comparison is made with this President and others no one could find a better person than Velupillai Prabhakaran. If the LTTE leader had lived today he would be even suitable to be the Prime Minister. After the death of Prabhakaran the Tamil people have become helpless."
