With the increase of dengue daily it is categorized as "dengue epidemic" - all leave cancelled
It is reported via statistics that the dengue fever has raised head to much higher levels than in previous years.
In this regard the officials of the ministry of health has declared this as a dengue epidemic.In this context to commence programmes to combat this epidemic the leave of the medical officers of health
and the public health inspectors on 10 districts have been cancelled.Last night in a dengue epidemic review meeting held with the leadership of the Minister of Health Dr Rajitha Senaratna this decision had been arrived at.
Accordingly from the coming Monday all leave to employees of the Medical officers' of health in Colombo,Gampaha,Kalutara,Galle, Jaffna ,Ratnapura,Kurunegala,Ratnapura,Kurunegala,Puttalam,Batticaloa and Ampara districts have been cancelled in order to attend to special dengue prevention programmes.
It is reported that until this epidemic is brought under control the leave of these employees would remain cancelled.
The fine for those who have helped to spread the dengue mosquito has been increased to Rs 25000/-The law that permission should be sought by the house owners to enter their premised to check the dengue breeding mosquitoes have been lifted.
According to the statistics and data of the dengue prevention unit the number of persons inflicted with dengue during the year 2016 has been is over 47000.The number of deaths reported from January to date this year has been 77.But in the previous year 2015 the number deaths reported had been only 54.
