Ape Gama ready for opening tomorrow

Ape Gama which has been built in view of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will be declared open by the President tomorrow.


President Rajapaksa will introduce the authentic traditional village with the opening of ‘Ape Gama’ tomorrow to coincide with the commencement of the Commonwealth Summit. The venue will be the Jana Kala Kendraya at Battaramulla, herein after known as the Ape Gama premises. The Ape Gama Authentic Village was developed on a concept of Minister Basil Rajapaksa and the advice of the President.

After its inauguration, Ape Gama will be open throughout the year for local as well as foreign tourists. All facilities needed by the tourists are available at Ape Gama. A Laksala Branch has also been set up. A Local Trade Exhibition will also be declared open tomorrow at the premises of the Janakala Kendraya.

The Organizing Committee said that there will be around 800 small and medium scale exhibition booths. Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa extended full support to the constructions at the Exhibition premises under the mediation of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries. The visitors will be able to witness a vast difference in comparison with such previous events.

Local as well as foreign investors will be able to experience the process whereby Sri Lanka’s main export crops are cultivated. The Economic Development Ministry said that the opening ceremony for this massive Exhibition will be transformed into another colourful cultural pageant.
