Prince Charles has said that they do not need to be reminded about the troubles of the world. The Commonwealth’s onus is to address them. Prince Charles was addressing the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
He emphasized that the Commonwealth should deliver a touch of healing upon the world.
Prince Charles mentioned that Sri Lanka had encountered many hardships in the past, recounting his previous visit to Sri Lanka in 2005 following the devastating tsunami.
He opined that he met with several relief workers during his visit and expressed his admiration for their fortitude while lauding the progress that had been made in healing those wounds.
The Prince of Wales mentioned it was his privilege to represent the Queen at 2013 Summit2013 and passed on her sincere thanks for this remarkable initiative.
The Queen had lauded the Commonwealth Charter. She pointed out that it was a milestone in Commonwealth history. The Queen extended her well wishes to the delegates during the deliberations that will ensue.
