Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne has announced in Parliament that the Organized Crimes and Anti Corruption Division has not been dissolved. The Prime Minister made this announcement on the third day of debate on the Second Reading of the Budget in Parliament.
JVP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake queried as to whether action would be taken to reinstitute the Organized Crimes and Corruption Division which had already been dissolved and whether the lawsuits will be resumed without a breakdown?
The Prime Minister said that the Organized Crimes Division had not been dissolved and that its Director, the OIC and other officials are serving as usual. Measures will be taken in future to further strengthen the Division by absorbing more officials. The lawsuits launched will be continuously carried out and officials who are witnesses and had been transferred will be summoned for the lawsuits.
