The Disease Prevention Act is to be amended after a lapse of 53 years.
The Health Ministry has taken this initiative under the programme mooted for the conservation of migrants’ health in respect of International Migrants Day. The Health Minister has already instructed officials concerned to plan out the required work. This Act was last amended in the year 1960. Migrants throughout the world are increasing rapidly.
The spread of disease has also increased as the number of migrants internally soars. The Health Ministry has decided to amend the Act under these circumstances.
