The charge sheet for former NSB Chairman Pradeep Kariyawasam who is accused of corruption has been handed over.
The Bribery or Corruption Commission handed over the charge sheet to Mr. Kariyawasam before the Chief Magistrate of Colombo Gehan Pilapitiya. Lawyers appearing on behalf of the accused said that initial objections would be raised against the charge sheet. Accordingly the Magistrate announced that the case will be taken up for hearing on the 19th of March.
The Bribery or Corruption Commission has filed the lawsuit accusing Pradeep Kariyawasam who was then serving as the NSB Chairman of having purchased shares from The Finance Company causing Government losses amounting to over 370 million rupees.
