The tiger terrorists should be held responsible for the colossal damage that they caused to this country.
The following report deals with the LTTE brutalities that certain sectors are attempting to forget. The LTTE cadres killed three soldiers on 29th December 1991 in Welioya and started the spate of violence on December 29th. In an attack targeting a group of soldiers on foot patrol on 29th December 1992 in Poonakari four soldiers were killed. Five soldiers were killed in an ambush carried out on 29th December in Palali, Jaffna in 1996. Two soldiers on duty in Batticaloa were killed on 29th December 1999. Eleven members of the security forces were killed in clashes that occurred in Paranthan and Kumalamunai in Jaffna on 29th December 2008. When terrorism was flushed out from the soil on 18th May 2009 36 lives had been lost to the LTTE including 3 civilians and 33 members of the security forces. The soldiers who advanced under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa eliminated terrorism that had cast a shadow over the country for 30 years. All communities are living in harmony in the peaceful environment in the motherland today. Certain foreign forces are attempting to destroy the peace and freedom. Their main objective has been to create discord among the communities. The US and Britain that committed serious human right violations in Iraq and Afghanistan are tight-lipped about such incidents. It is absurd that those quarters are seeking a report from this country. It is highly regrettable that they have forgotten that they are hurling stones from glass houses.
