Twenty Indian fishermen who illegally encroached on the Sri Lankan waters were taken into custody in the northern seas.
The Navy said that they intentionally encroached on the boundaries when they possessed location tracking high tech GSP devices in their vessels.
The arrested fishermen have been brought to the Kankesanthurai harbour along with 6 vessels that belonged to them. Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnasuriya said that they will be handed over to the fisheries inspector of the area to carry out further investigations.
