The sole aim of the blood thirsty tiger terrorists was to destroy the entire country and transform it into a land of the dead.
It is doubtful whether such terrorism was or prevails in any part of the world. It is because as it cruelty was so dreadful. This episode deals with the brutality unleashed by the terrorists on 24th December throughout the dark era.
It was on a day like today in the year 1987 that the terrorists killed three war heroes by unleashing an attack in the Thrikonamadu area. They thus embarked on their killing spree on this day during the dark period. On 24th December 1990, a motor vehicle in which members of the Security forces were travelling was caught up in a landmine planted by the terrorists in the Horowpathana area. 19 war heroes made supreme sacrifices in the face of tiger brutality.
Again in 1991 on a day like today, the ruthless terrorists exploded a landmine in the Welioya area killing 21 brave soldiers. Kokkuthuduwai was the next target of the terrorists on 24th December in the year 1992. 44 war heroes made supreme sacrifices in a ferocious attack mooted by the terrorists. Two war heroes were killed when terrorists opened fire targeting the Army Camp in Palaly on 24th December 1996. On 24th December 1997, three war heroes who were caught up in a series of gun fire attacks mooted by the terrorists in Kilinochchi made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the unity of the country.
In the year 2008, also on a day like today, the terrorists took away the lives of two war heroes. The attack was mooted in the Akkarayankulam area. Demented by the continuous defeats suffered, the terrorists launched an assault in the Nivil area, depriving the country of valuable lives of nine war heroes. On the same day, the terrorists exploded a bomb in Olumadu killing two more war heroes. Two innocent unarmed civilians and 130 war heroes were killed by the terrorists on 24th December throughout the fear psychosis period.
The war heroes who advanced under the prudent leadership of the Commander in Chief, President Rajapaksa and the guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa provided an example to the whole world as to how terrorism could be uprooted from a country. They did so by killing the murderous tiger leader on 18th May 2009. The entire nation since then began to taste freedom and breathe a sigh of relief. It is only just four years since the routing of terrorism which plagued the country for 30 years.
The Leader of the country has now embarked on a programme to develop it. The world can now witness the unity of the nation. World powers that are hurt by the lesson of eliminating terrorism provided by Sri Lanka have joined hands with forces against the country and conspiring to see a return of that dark era. There is a point that those seeking inquiry reports from the President who is the Commander in Chief and the war heroes who routed terrorism, should be aware of. That is the nation had given the inquiry report to the President. Inquiry reports should be sought from the brutal terrorists who devastated the country throughout three decades.
