The Divi Neguma Department will commence operations on January 03rd. The Government’s decision has earned accolades of Samurdhi Managers and Coordinating Officers. Religious ceremonies countrywide will mark the occasion.
In addition to 27,000 officers, around five million Divi Neguma beneficiaries will immensely benefit by the establishment of the Department. Joining in a news conference held in Colombo, Secretary of the All Ceylon Samurdhi Development and Agricultural Research Assistant Officers Union, Jagath Kumara said they commend the decision taken by the Government to set up the Department.
Mr. Jagath Kumara said that the law related to the granting of pension benefits to Samurdhi Officers was recently enacted. The Government made a significant dedication to the granting of these rights. It became a reality due to the enormous efforts of particularly President Rajapaksa and Minister Basil Rajapaksa. All their rights were won due to their unstinted dedication. As such they extended the tribute of all Samurdhi officers to the Government for the initiatives taken to make this progressive decision a reality.
