The President has declared open the Abhayarama Dharma Sabha Mandapaya of the Abhayarama Vihare in Narahenpita.
The President who arrived at the Abhayarama Vihare in Narahenpita this morning paid obeisance to the Bodhiya and secured blessings. After engaging in religious observances the President declared open the newly constructed Dharma Sabha Mandapaya at the Vihare. The two-storeyed Mandapaya which displays how the Lord Buddha delivered sermons was built with personal contributions of Sarath Seneviratne and L.H. Piyasena. The President extended his greetings to the Chief Incumbent of the Abhayarama in Narahenpita and President of the Public Services United Nurses Union the Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera in view of his birthday which falls tomorrow. He also presented him with a memento.
Members of the Maha Sangha including the Mahanayake of the Amarapura Maha Nikaya the Most Ven. Davuldena Gnanissara Thera and the Vice Chancellor of the Kelaniya University the Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusala Dhamma Thera, and a group including Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzier, Miniters Maithripala Sirisena and Susil Pemajayantha were present on the occasion.
