A number of UNP activists have joined SLFP to assure the victory of the Peoples Alliance. UNP activists obtained the membership of Sri Lanka Freedom party at a meeting held to brief future political activities of Colombo Central by SLFP co-organizer Hirunika Premachandra. Obtaining SLFP membership they said that they would commit themselves to assure the victory of the Peoples Alliance. The meeting was held under the patronage of senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzi. He said that Mr. Bharatha Lakshman helped Muslim community with any problem. He added that Hirunika is the daughter of Mr. Bharatha Lakshman who did not consider race, religion or party differences. Therefore he asked the people to help her in her future political career. She said that her father went door to door when engaged in political activities. She added her father loved the people from the bottom of his heart and she also has the same to be given to the people. She further said that her father followed true principles in politics. She added that the Alliance would win not only Kolonnawa but Central Colombo with a huge margin.
