Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has said that the aim of her Government is to embark on a new journey with the Sri Lankan Government on behalf of peace, prosperity, economic growth, freedom and democracy.
The Australian Foreign Minister was speaking at a ceremony organized to mark Sri Lanka’s 66th Independence commemoration. It was organized by Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Australia Thisara Samarasinghe and attended by foreign diplomats in that country.
The Australian Foreign Minister further said that her country has again re-amended the agenda on the ties it is maintaining with Sri Lanka. Their aim is to further enhance open and external relations with the Sri Lankan Government. She said that through these efforts they intend to give more value to Sri Lanka. Even though many countries are attempting to marginalize Sri Lanka, Julie Bishop appealed to the world not to do so. She requested the world to enter into agreement on new relations with Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Australia Thisara Samarasinghe also expressed his views at this function.
