The Deyata Kirula programmes are progressing successfully passing on many benefits to the people.
The programme of carrying out free surgeries to eye patients of the Kegalle District who were identified during mobile service medical clinics and granting them contact lenses has commenced. The surgeries are being carried out at the Vijaya Kumaratunge Memorial Hospital in Seeduwa.
Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath said that 1300 patients have been directed to the hospital for these surgeries. These patients were identified during 571 medical clinics organized in the Kegalla District.
Another stage in the series of religious programmes mooted under Deyata Kirula was held at the Galgamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha.
Ata Pirikara were offered to 50 Buddhist monks. Among those present was a group including Minister T.B. Ekanayake and Parliamentarian Tharanath Basnayake.
