Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has said that it does not take more time to bring about reconciliation after a conflict that plagued the country for 30 years. He said they are in agreement with the statement made by India’s Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid. Addressing the weekly cabinet news briefing the Minister said that the Government’s reconciliation programme was constantly moving forward.
The Minister said it is very clear that reconciliation is necessary not for the Government but for the country. There are many facts which have an impact on reconciliation that is circulation of more money among the people, upgrade their living standards and increase their avenues of earnings. Not a single country in the world such as Sri Lanka after a short period of four years since ending the conflict had directed attention to many factors which impact reconciliation.
Sri Lanka has discharged a major part of the work. There is a doubt whether something else should be done in lieu of it. He said that the citizens are quite satisfied with regard to reconciliation. It is a process which moves forward daily.
