Air Marshal Kolitha Aravinda Gunatilake has assumed duties as the 14th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema yesterday officially handed over the duties to the New Air Force Commander. The new Air Force Chief was presented with the Commander’s official sword at this event held at the Air Force Headquarters. A march past was held in honour of the Former Air Force Chief.
Air Marshal Kolitha Aravinda Gunatilake joined the Air Force as a Cadet Officer in 1980 and after the successful completion of flying training he was commissioned as a Pilot Officer. He has also served as Director Operations and Chief of Staff from the year 2008 to 2011 prior to his appointment as the Commander. He was educated at St. Thomas’ College and Royal College Colombo
