Preference numbers for candidates contesting the Western and Southern Provincial Council are being issued.
The Elections Secretariat said that the provision of preference numbers to candidates contesting the Western and Southern Provincial polls took place today. The acceptance of nominations for the polls ended on the 06th of this month.
Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said that preference numbers have been allocated to the candidates in the fray based on the first name mentioned in their birth certificates. These preference numbers have already been handed over to the candidates via the Returning Officers of the respective Districts.
Accordingly the preference numbers were issued to the candidates of the Western Province at the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts while preference numbers of candidates of the Southern Province were issued at the Galle, Matara and Hambantota Districts.
