A loan of 200 thousand rupees is being given to women entrepreneurs to further encourage them.
This is a proposal made by President Rajapaksa when he presented the 2014 budget as the Finance Minister. It is being implemented marking International Women’s Day which falls tomorrow.
The President took the initiative of granting such a loan to women entrepreneurs following a proposal made by women during a discussion to solicit proposals in the crafting of the budget. A notable feature is the issue of this loan interest free and sans a surety and also immaterial of the age, to women entrepreneurs. Known as “Liya Isura” this loan scheme would be a landmark in the country’s history for the grooming a generation of entrepreneurial women.
The awarding of a sum of 3200 million rupees to 1500 women entrepreneurs will take place at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium tomorrow.
