Police Media Spokesman said that strict legal action will be initiated against students who break the law during school big matches.

Addressing the media at the Police Headquarters, SSP Ajith Rohana said that 100 such students were arrested today.

The Police Media Spokesman said that several incidents were reported this morning. Students were travelling in vehicles in dangerous ways. Students were attempting to misbehave opposite Girls Schools and to storm into such schools. He pointed out that they were adhering to strict measures to halt such incidents within the Colombo City.

The Police were not against the children enjoying their triumphs. But the law will be strictly enforced if the children behave in a manner hindering the public. Special Police teams were deployed within the City today. If anyone behaves in a violent manner or travels in a vehicle in a dangerous way, action will be taken even to take the vehicle into custody. SSP Ajith Rohana added that they hoped that the Principals, teachers and parents of the schools concerned would strictly divert their attention to this matter.
