Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana has said that there is an eye witness who claims that the Puthukiyidiruppu mass grave has been dug by the LTTE. He made this reference addressing a news briefing held yesterday.
The Police Media Spokesman said nine skeletons were found from the Puthukidiyiruppu area and these have been despatched to the Jaffna Hospital. He said that the witness has claimed that the suspected mass grave found in Puthukudiyiruppu last week had been dug by the LTTE. He identified himself as Gopal Kodiswaran. He had said that the LTTE had dug the mass grave in February 2009. The witness had said that he was a resident of the area. He claimed that on 9th February 2009 he was told that the LTTE was to bury some people at the location where the grave was found last week. Kodiswaran pointed out that the bodies were brought in a tractor and dumped at the location. He said that this information was conveyed to him by a member of the LTTE Police Unit, identified as Kunaraj.
The Police Media Spokesman said that Kunaraj was a resident of Palai and the Police are investigating to determine if he is still alive and residing in the area.
SSP Ajith Rohana mentiond that the claims proved that the grave was used by the LTTE to dump bodies of people killed by them.
